Rocksteady Games started its legacy with the Batman: Arkham series, a long line of action-adventure games starring DC hero, Batman. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is its first time in years trying something new: a live-service action game starring DC villains instead of heroes.

Suicide Squad is set in Rocksteady's Arkhamverse and even reveals what happens after the end of Arkham Knight. Where things then go for Batman in Suicide Squad has proven unpopular with some fans.

The Suicide Squad captures Batman, ties him up in a chair, and Harley Quinn shoots him in the head. There isn't much personality to the scene; perhaps Batman is being controlled by Brainiac. That's what's so upsetting to DC fans that wanted him to go out with a bang rather than a whimper.

Synth_Potato, a fan of the Batman Arkham series, highlights Batman Arkham's more flattering end to Bruce Wayne in comparison to Suicide Squad's "fanfic level garbage."

"Crazy that some people don’t see the issue in killing off this legendary character in an insulting way, this Batman meant something to people."

Some fans were also especially disappointed because they thought it was the last performance of the late Kevin Conroy, Batman's voice actor from the Arkham series. IGN later confirmed that it was not.

"I won't share the footage or spoilers or anything, but having seen the final scene of Batman in Suicide Squad, that being the final performance that Kevin Conroy will ever give as Batman just makes me sad," said content creator Many A True Nerd on Twitter. "Not angry or outraged or anything. Just sad."

Supporters of the scene argued that it was fine, actually, because of the name of the game: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. It says it right on the tin. But the problem some have raised is the specific circumstances in which he's killed.

As one fan cleanly put, "I don’t think it’s dumb they killed him. I think it’s dumb in the way they killed him."

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is available in early access for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition. It will be available for everyone starting February 2, 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
