Assassin's Creed Infinity, the working title for the hub that will host new Assassin's Creed games, now has a new name. It's called the Animus hub, and Ubisoft's Marc-Alexis Cote told Game File that 2024's Assassin's Creed Shadows will be the first entry in the series to launch from within it. More details are coming later on, but Cote said the Animus hub will be the place "from which you can launch different experiences."
In 2021, Bloomberg reported that Ubisoft was developing a "massive online platform that evolves over time" for the Assassin's Creed universe. Ubisoft subsequently confirmed that Assassin's Creed Infinity was the codename for the upcoming project, the structure of which is led by Cote. He is the executive producer of the entire Assassin's Creed franchise.
Ubisoft has said Infinity--now Animus hub--was created in response to fans who have asked for a "more cohesive approach" to the Assassin's Creed series.
The specifics remain unknown, but it sounds like Animus hub is similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which is a product that has multiple Halo games within it. Call of Duty does something similar as well, as the latest Call of Duty titles all launch from within an app called Call of Duty HQ.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows releases this November for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game takes players back in time to 16th century Japan and features two playable protagonists.
