It's only been a few days since Obsidan's current-gen version of The Outer Worlds, Spacer's Choice Edition, was released. It was previously reported that the latest version of the sci-fi RPG was heavily affected by performance issues, including low frame rates and poor visuals across console and PC, and Obsidian has now apologized for the game's state.

Writing on Reddit (via IGN), Obsidian's Chris Stanick said that a patch is currently in the works via the game's publisher, Private Division.

"I am sorry that you all have been experiencing performance issues with The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I assure you the team at Private Division is working on getting a patch out as soon as possible. When we have more information about that patch, we'll be sure to let folks know."

Toward the end of its post, Obsidian links to a Private Division Support Page, where you can submit any problems you may encounter while playing The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition.

The Spacer's Choice Edition's issues are harder to swallow because this wasn't a free upgrade for existing players--those who already own the game need to pay another $10 to get the new version.
