Farewelled and missed by Alan (husband), Robert and Tom (sons), Susan and Sylvie (daughters-in-law), and James, David, Douglas and Lucy (grandchildren). Joan had a full life marked by involvement with her family, both professional and amateur interest in natural history, and major contributions to charitable work. She was awarded both the Australian Natural History Medallion and the Medal of the Order of Australia. Her life will be commemorated at a private service for immediate family.
