Minecraft might finally be coming to current generation console, if a new age rating is to be believed.
According to a user on Twitter, Minecraft has been rated in Germany for the Xbox Series X|S. The game doesn't have any native versions for the current generation of consoles yet, so this rating suggests that this might change soon. However, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game are playable via backwards compatibility on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, respectively.
GameSpot has reached out to Microsoft for more information.
Minecraft for Xbox Series has been rated in Germany (USK).

There is currently no native Xbox Series X or S version of the game. This suggests a current-gen upgrade for the game is imminent. pic.twitter.com/r1tHEL4LOr
During the FTC trial regarding Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox's Phil Spencer blamed Sony for the lack of a native PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft. He stated that Sony didn't send Microsoft any development kits of PlayStation 5 ahead of the console's launch in 2020.
Since the rating only mentions an Xbox Series X|S version and doesn't include a PS5 version, it's possible that Microsoft has only worked on a native version for its own console while unable to work on a PS5 one due to the lack of development kits.
The latest entry in the Minecraft franchise is Minecraft Legends, a real-time strategy game. In GameSpot's Minecraft Legends review, we said, "Minecraft Legends has a lot of good ideas, but the combat mechanics aren't suited for actively engaging in the act of war."
