So far, 2024 has been a brutal year for the video game industry, and it's not showing any signs of letting up. Now, Galvanic Games, the developer behind Wizard with a Gun, is the latest studio to shut down.

Galvanic Games founder and president Patrick Morgan shared the news on social media. And he noted that despite the fact that Wizard with a Gun was well-received, the game's sales weren't high enough to save the studio.

"It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of Galvanic Games," wrote Morgan. "Despite the promising start of Wizard with a Gun, sales are not strong enough to sustain our studio. The last year has been particularly tough for games. While we had numerous encouraging conversations at DICE and GDC, the process of signing new projects, in a good year, takes longer than the runway we had left."

Morgan also included a link back to the studio's LinkedIn page, in order to help some of his now former employees find work elsewhere in the gaming industry. But with so many people across the industry already looking for work in the wake of multiple closures, many of those ex-employees are now facing an uncertain future.

This year has already seen the closures of Deviation Games, First Contact Entertainment, Microsoft's Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Games, as well as Avalanche Studio Group's New York and Montreal studios. That's not even including the large number of layoffs that have hit everyone from Take-Two to Sony and EA--and the year is not even halfway over yet.
