After being available through the Steam Client Beta since July 25, the new personalized layout is now widely available to all users on Valve's storefront. The store is now much easier to parse when visiting the home page. Several bits of additional clutter are gone, making it simpler to jump to your favorite genres and find something completely new to play.
New features include an enhanced search panel, which comprises popular searches, recently viewed items, search options for publishers and other categories outside games, and an advanced search tool. The horizontal search panel now stays at the top of the client no matter where you are within Steam, making it easy to access at all times. You can find more details and Valve's reasoning behind the changes in the beta announcement blog from July.
"We redesigned the Steam store menu to offer a more dynamic and personalized experience, making it easier for players to browse the store and discover new games," reads a post on Steam's community page. "Updated organization and layout make navigation and search more accessible, and now you'll find those options on more store pages. The search bar is also a little smarter, with personalized search and browsing suggestions, plus games you've recently searched for."
The new layout also includes improved browsing, consolidated recommendations, and personalization options for the categories tab. Steam is constantly going through changes and testing new features. You can join the Steam Client Beta to try out some of these new features and provide feedback to help shape how the final products look.
