description
Located a short distance from your house in Stardew Valley is a dilapidated building. The building is the Greenhouse, which can be repaired and used after completing the corresponding section of the Community Center or by paying the fee at Joja Mart. Repairing the Greenhouse allows you to grow crops inside, ignoring the seasonal restriction on crops that are planted outside.
How to unlock the Greenhouse
There are two ways to unlock the Greenhouse, depending on which story path you are going down. If you are doing Joja Mart, you simply need to pay the 35,000G fee to have it repaired. After paying the fee, the Greenhouse will be repaired overnight.
If you are doing the Community Center path, the more popular of the two paths, you will need to fully complete the Pantry bundles. The Pantry is unlocked after completing one bundle. There are six individual bundles in the pantry, all of which are themed around crops and other farming goods, like animal products and artisan items.
Below is a breakdown of every bundle and the necessary items to complete it. In addition to growing or producing these items yourself, you can obtain some of them via the Traveling Cart, although it does not sell high-quality items.
When you have an item for one of the bundles, you need to take it to the Community Center and place it into the appropriate bundles. Unless stated otherwise, all quantities are one.
Spring Crops Bundle
You must donate all four of the following items:
- Parsnip
- Green Bean
- Cauliflower
- Potato
Summer Crops Bundle
You must donate all four of the following items:
- Tomato
- Hot Pepper
- Blueberry
- Melon
Fall Crops Bundle
You must donate all four of the following items:
- Corn
- Eggplant
- Pumpkin
- Yam
Quality Crops Bundle
You must donate three of the following items:
- 5 Gold Quality Parsnips
- 5 Gold Quality Melons
- 5 Gold Quality Pumpkins
- 5 Gold Quality Corn
Animal Bundle
You must donate five of the following items:
- Large Cow Milk
- Large Brown Egg
- Large Egg
- Large Goat Milk
- Wool
- Duck Egg
Artisan Bundle
You must donate six of the following items:
- Truffle Oil
- Cloth
- Goat Cheese
- Cheese
- Honey
- Jelly
- Apple
- Apricot
- Orange
- Peach
- Pomegranate
- Cherry
More Stardew Valley guides:
What you can use the Greenhouse for
With the Greenhouse repaired, you can use it to grow crops outside of their normal season, including during winter. You can fit four Iridium Sprinkler fields inside, with a few plots to spare. Crops that produce repeatedly will not die at any point, including the end of the season. The crops will not get watered on rainy days since they are indoors, so you will want to set up sprinklers or remember to water on rainy days. Robin can move the Greenhouse once you have repaired it if you don't like where it is located.
While you can grow crops out of season, the shop will still only sell seeds during their season, so it's a good item to put a chest inside the Greenhouse and stock up on seeds when they are available or use a Seed Maker to turn your crops into seeds.
