Battlefield Studios has confirmed that Battlefield 6 has a server browser, but it's a return to what Battlefield 2042 did for its own server browser and is limited in a key way.

In an official FAQ, Battlefield Studios said Battlefield 6's Portal mode will have a server browser and that the option to find a gametype you're looking for will be "easily findable" from the main menu. However, there will not be a server browser for official servers.

Portal was introduced in Battlefield 2042 as a means to allow players to create and customize their own gametypes with custom rules and settings. In Battlefield 6, it goes further and allows players to make their own maps.

The nice thing about a server browser, fans say, is that it allows players the freedom to choose to play whatever they want, on any map they want, in a region near them with an ideal ping. While there may not be a server browser for official servers in Battlefield 6, it's likely fans will do the work themselves and create copies of the official servers. That may not be an ideal experience, however.

Battlefield 6 producer Alexia Christofi addressed the fan discussion about server browsers, asking people to send in feedback as to why an official server browser is so important to them. Responses flooded in, and Christofi highlighted the key takeaways.

Christofi went on to say that Battlefield 6's server browser, via Portal, does in fact "answer all these wants." Christofi acknowledged, "Yes, it's via Portal and shows only community experiences," but pointed out that players can earn full XP gains with these modes and they will be promoted "front and center" in Battlefield 6's main menu.

In the absence of a server browser for official servers in Battlefield 6, players will be able to find matches via matchmaking in various playlists. Players will get to try this out during the upcoming Battlefield 6 open beta, which begins on August 7.
