Nintendo fans won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on the Switch 2. The successor to one of the best-selling video game consoles of all time is slated to release June 5, Nintendo announced during its hour-long livestream that fully lifted the veil on the Switch 2. You will have to wait a bit longer than expected to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2, though. After initially announcing a preorder date of April 9, Nintendo has delayed preorders in the US while it assesses the new tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration. When preorders do eventually go live, the Switch 2 will be available on its own for $450 or the Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World for $500. However, it's possible prices could change given news regarding tariffs.

The first-party accessories will be available to preorder when console preorders go live on April 9, and the vast majority of them will be carried by major retailers. The Switch 2 has 256GB of internal storage and is expandable via microSD Express Cards. This is a newer, faster form of microSD that is still in its infancy. Nintendo-branded SanDisk and Samsung microSD Express Cards were revealed during the Nintendo Direct. Some third-party companies, such as the boundary-pushing manufacturer Dbrand, have been teasing Switch 2 accessories for months. Nintendo fans won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on the Switch 2. Nintendo Switch 2 Preorder Bonuses?

Video game consoles typically don't come with preorder bonuses in the same way that games often do, but with Nintendo products, retailers often have exclusive bonuses. These range from practical products themed around Nintendo, such as tote bags and popcorn buckets, to display pieces and little trinkets. One unknown retailer is rumored to have a collectible coin for those who preorder the Switch 2. We will update this article as Switch 2 preorder bonuses are confirmed.

Nintendo Switch 2 First-Party Accessories

All of the Nintendo Switch 2 accessories below, with the exception of the branded microSD cards, are manufactured by Nintendo. The first-party accessories will be available to preorder when console preorders go live on April 9, and the vast majority of them will be carried by major retailers. Best Buy, Walmart, and Target have store listings for many of the Switch 2's accessories.

Arguably the most notable official Switch 2 accessory is the new Pro Controller, which has a new C button, two remappable back buttons, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Nintendo also unveiled the Switch 2 Camera, which can be used for the console's new GameChat feature.

If you want an extra pair of Switch 2 Joy-Con Controllers, they will be available to purchase in pairs for $90 or individually for $50 each. Other Joy-Con accessories available at launch include a Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip for $35, a two-pack of racing wheel attachments for $20, and Joy-Con 2 straps (two-pack) for $13. You will only need the straps if you lose the ones that come with the controllers.

Nintendo will also have two official carrying cases at launch: a $35 hardshell carrying case with a screen protector and cleaning cloth and the All-In-One Carrying Case for $90. The former is designed for the handheld with Joy-Con 2 Controllers attached, while the latter is for the console, dock, extra controllers, and cables. If you want an extra Switch 2 dock for another room in your house, a Dock Set with an AC adapter, USB-C cable, and HDMI cable will be available at launch for $110.

The Switch 2 has 256GB of internal storage and is expandable via microSD Express Cards. This is a newer, faster form of microSD that is still in its infancy. Nintendo-branded SanDisk and Samsung microSD Express Cards were revealed during the Nintendo Direct. Nintendo-branded Samsung microSD Express 256GB Cards cost $60, but you can use existing microSD Express cards, too. Nintendo Switch 2 Third-Party Accessories

In the coming weeks, you can expect third-party accessory manufacturers to reveal new controllers, carrying cases, grips, screen protectors, and other accessories for Switch 2. Some third-party companies, such as the boundary-pushing manufacturer Dbrand, have been teasing Switch 2 accessories for months. Dbrand is creating a Switch 2 version of its popular (and very good) Killswitch grip case. You can reserve the Killswitch for Switch 2 now. Alternatively, you can preorder Satisfye's upcoming ZenGrip 2 for 20% off with promo code FOUNDER20.

Meanwhile, GameStop has its own range of Switch 2 accessories, including carrying cases, Joy-Con grips, and microSD Express cards--most of which are cheaper than the Nintendo-branded counterparts.

You likely own a few "Switch 2" accessories already

The Nintendo Switch 2 is also backward compatible with Switch accessories such as headsets and controllers--to an extent. For example, your Switch Joy-Con Controllers will work in docked mode with the Switch 2, but you can't connect them to the tablet for handheld mode. Accessories such as your Nintendo Switch carrying case are also unlikely to be compatible with Switch 2. But your Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and third-party gamepads such as the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Wireless Controller--our top pick for Nintendo Switch--will be compatible with Switch 2 from the jump. Nintendo has published a compatibility list that you can reference for first-party accessories.

Because of the sheer abundance of existing Switch accessories, there will likely be some interesting options to improve your Switch 2 experience at launch. The new Joy-Con don't appear to address one of the more common complaints about the default Switch 2 controllers: ergonomics. As such, grip cases and third-party alternatives for handheld mode will likely be popular this time around, too. Existing controllers like GameSir's G8 Plus could be of interest, as this Bluetooth controller is compatible with Switch and tablets of up to 8.5 inches. It will certainly be able to cradle the Switch 2, and we'd be surprised if it isn't able to connect to the console.

Nintendo Switch 2 Game Preorders

Mario Kart World

GameSpot will be creating dedicated preorder guides for all Nintendo Switch 2 launch games with physical editions as well as every major title for the platform that's slated to arrive in the months following launch. We're keeping a running list of confirmed Switch 2 games below and will add pertinent details such as price, preorder bonuses, and editions to choose from.

Prices for Nintendo Switch 2 games, including first-party exclusives, vary by title. For instance, Mario Kart World has an MSRP of $80, while Donkey Kong Bananza--a brand-new 3D adventure in which Donkey Kong wears pants and smashes stuff--will be $70 at launch.

Enhanced versions of Nintendo Switch hits like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild will cost $80 and $70, respectively. Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World as well as Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV will retail for $80 each, though both of these games will benefit from new playable content in addition to performance enhancements. If you own any of those games on Switch 2, a paid upgrade path will be available.

Third-party pricing appears to be highly variable, too. The HD Remaster of Bravely Default, one of the best RPGs on Nintendo 3DS, will only cost $40. Street Fighter 6, meanwhile, will cost $60 and features new in-game content and existing DLC.

Nintendo Switch 2 First-Party Games + Exclusives

The Switch 2 will also have an exclusive Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership perk: a selection of GameCube games. Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo

Nintendo is also releasing seven new Amiibo figures on launch day. Four Champions from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will finally get the Amiibo figure treatment. Prices have increased from $16 to $20 for these four Amiibo. A figure based on Mineru's Construct will launch at a later date, though we suspect this will be a larger, more expensive Amiibo.

Street Fighter 6, which will be available on Switch 2 at launch, will have three Amiibo figures of its own. The pricing for these is a bit strange, especially since the game itself will be $60. Each of the three Street Fighter Amiibo cost $30, half the price of the game.
