Capcom has announced that it will shut down the servers for Resident Evil Re:Verse on June 29, and it will be removed from digital storefronts on March 3, along with its DLC.
"Resident Evil Re:Verse was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release," Capcom said in a statement. "Now that we've reached a new turning point for the series, we feel that Resident Evil Re:Verse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably."
The game came packaged with any purchase of Resident Evil Village, but can be bought separately for $40. Those who've already purchased RP Boosters or the Premium Pass will have access to the content until the service ends.
In Resident Evil Re:Verse, up to six players could compete in a deathmatch using weapons and items found throughout the map. The player with the most points at the end of the match would win.
Capcom is currently working on a new Resident Evil game with Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi at the helm. While details are scarce, the upcoming game is reportedly going to be open-world. Resident Evil 6 is also rumored to make a comeback, as it received a recent ESRB rating for the current generations of consoles.
