Fortnite's June 18 update was a massive one, introducing two new game modes in Blitz Royale and Lego Fortnite Expeditions, not to mention a new Ballistic map. But the most exciting reveal in this patch may actually be that of the alternate style for the Superman skin included with the Chapter 6 Season 3 battle pass. While the standard style, which is based on the likeness of new Superman movie star David Corenswet, is pretty solid, the alternate "pen & ink" look is on a whole other level of awesome. Take a gander.

The spectacular new Fortnite Superman.

As you can see, we've got a cel-shaded look with a rather unique version of the Superman logo with the S on a black background. It's an obscure style, for sure, but it's an authentic one that originates from the old Action Comics all the way back in 1940. This is about as classic as it gets. While we've gotten several cel-shaded Marvel skins over the past year, this new Superman is the first DC character to get that treatment in Fortnite.

The cel-shaded Superman will be available for battle pass owners to unlock starting July 11. While the David Corenswet style is obtainable now by buying 25 levels via the Battle Bundle, the newly revealed style will require you to complete quests next month if you want to obtain it.

A new Superman skin has been a long time coming--four years, in fact. Fortnite's only previous Superman skin came via the Chapter 2 Season 7 battle pass, which means it's permanently vaulted and will never be sold in the shop. And despite there being five different Batman skins that are periodically available in the shop, Epic didn't release a new Superman skin until the one on the current season's battle pass--and since this pass is not permanently exclusive, it's very likely you'll see it in the item shop someday.

The old battle pass Superman does still have one thing the new version doesn't, however--it came with a Clark Kent style, and an emote that lets you switch between Clark and Superman at will. The new version of Superman does not have a Clark style.
