EVERETT, James Douglas
James Everett was one of the kindest and gentlest of human beings. He was a member of many historical societies and was true to his heart in trying to preserve South Australia's rich cultural heritage. I had the pleasure of working with 'Jim' over many years, and he was an important part of celebrating our State's history through the annual History Trust Festival. James was a meticulous historical researcher and published several works on South Australia's 19th century Methodist history. A country boy at heart he was born in Gawler to a pioneer family of five generations from the 1850s, and with a childhood spent at East Adelaide School he was also part of the town life of St Peters and Walkerville. A profoundly good and humble man, James will be sorely missed by many. Our deepest sympathy to Lynette and family from Denise and John Schumann.
