BOULLY, Leith
We commemorate the adventurous and loving life of Leith Ester Boully 1st March 1960 - 29th June 2025. Leith touched many hearts across Australia from her work in the Murray Darling Basin, Water trust, Murrumbidgee Irrigation, SunWater, Australian Rural Leadership Program and the Peter Cullen Trust just to name a few. In her honor, a celebration will be held on the 9th of July 2025 @ 2:00pm held at the Walkabout Creek function center in Brisbane. All who knew her are welcome.
In Roma’s red dust she first touched the land,
With reins in her hands and a bold, steady stand.
A brother, a sister and horse at her side,
She protected us all and with that she thrived.
At Glennie she learned how to lead and to strive,
With grit in her spirit, her dreams come alive.
From paddocks to boardrooms, her voice strong and clear,
She carved out a path many now revere.
She shaped water’s future with wisdom and grace,
At national tables she held her place.
A champion for rivers, for justice, for land,
She led with a calm and uncompromising hand.
Chairing, advising, with depth and with flair,
From MDBA to councils, she’s always been there.
Breaking the mould in a world mostly male,
She forged vital change and shifted the scale.
But behind the sharp mind and the steel in her gaze,
Lies a prankster who still sets our nerves all ablaze.
With a wink and a trick she’ll catch you off guard—
No one is safe, not even in the backyard!
A Murray cod swims in the depths of her soul,
Totem of wisdom, of strength, and control.
It whispers of rivers, of country and kin,
Of water’s deep stories that ripple within.
Boss lady, trailblazer, mum to us all,
She answers the big things and still takes our call.
She listens, she questions, she laughs and she guides,
Grandma to two, with pride in her eyes.
We love her completely, this much is true—
For all that she’s done and still dares to do.
From Roma to rivers, her legend runs wide,
Leith Boully: our compass, our heart, and our pride.
