CUMMINS, John Murdoch
In loving memory of John Murdoch Cummins, the grandson of the founder of Cummins & Campbell Ltd after whom Cummins Street, Hyde Park, is named, and the former Assistant Managing Director of Cummins & Campbell, Flinders Street, which employed 400 people in Townsville and its region and published the Cummins & Campbell Magazine, the leading source for the ethnology, commerce and society of North Queensland in the Twentieth Century. John died peacefully in his home in London aged 95 attended by his loving wife Frances "Annabelle" Cummins. He is also mourned by his sons John and Harry, his grandchildren Sabrina, Tyrone, Ella and Rose, his nieces and nephews, his cousins Lyndon Macmillan and Robin Slattery née Cunningham and their families, his wife's cousin Denise Pearson and her family, and the family of his late cousin Suzy Guignan née Cunningham, not to mention his many friends and acquaintances in Australia and the United Kingdom. There will be a private cremation in London on 25 January 2023 and his ashes will ultimately be interred with those of his dear wife in Belgian Gardens Cemetery, Townsville, close to the graves of his grandfather, father, mother and brother.
