Main Beach Business Pioneer Passes
Helen Nugent began her 50 year association with Main Beach on the Gold Coast in 1974 when she built and opened the Tedder Place Interior Design Centre at 13 Tedder Avenue. The original shop is still there and is now a pharmacy and real estate office at the start of the famous Tedder Avenue strip.
Helen was a leading interior designer on the Gold Coast in the 70s, 80s and 90s and styled many of the Coast’s most beautiful homes and apartments, as well as completing commercial design briefs throughout Australia and internationally. Many of Helen’s clients became dear friends. Following her semi-retirement from the design world, Helen had clothing boutiques first at 27 Tedder Avenue and then in Byron Bay before finally retiring a few years ago.
She died on 2 October 2024 as the result of an accident.
Helen’s family invites her many friends to remember her life and achievements at 11.00a.m. on Monday 14 October 2024. The funeral service will be at the Sacred Heart Church, 50 Fairway Drive, Clear Island Waters. A celebration of Helen’s life will take place at The Venue, upstairs at 25 Tedder Avenue, Main Beach, starting at 1.30pm.
