Beloved Peter Backhouse born 20.7.1934 in Edgware, London, died peacefully in Ipswich Queensland on the 14.9.2022.
A true champion in life, who as a young man was stationed in Egypt and Jordan under the British Army. During his lifetime, Peter developed a passion for cameras in the East End in London and set up one of the first film departments in Sydney where pioneering filmmakers started their careers. A move from his much loved Manly in Sydney led him to Lower Beechmont in the Hinterland on the Gold Coast in Queensland where he lived for over 30 years. Turning to Buddhism and massage therapy as a way to help heal people in his community.
Peter is survived by his son Scott, daughter Fiona and grandchild Yasmina Bazzi Backhouse.
